For the most part, I keep a pretty light-hearted approach to life and can handle the hurdles thrown at me with a smile, but the darkness and uncertainty of the future is heavy and depressing. My favorite thing to say is "If you're going to tell me about a problem, you better finish with the solutions."
I'm stumped on a solution for Corona.
When will it end? How hurtful will it be for the kids? Can people make ends meet? From hourly to salary, everyone will feel the financial pinch. School is a safety net for so many kids; will they be safe without it? Imagining the pain and heartache for lost opportunity for young athletes. Missed "lasts" of a senior year. Cancelled dream vacations. Banned from seeing your elderly loved ones in the nursing homes. I could go on and on naming the horrendous effects our entire nation will feel.
And as a small business owner, will we all survive?
Now, more than ever, we need to ban together as a community to not let this virus ruin our health and our livelihoods!
As someone who feels a constant need to fix or solve things, our team has created a challenge to stimulate the local economy and we all need to help to beat the devastating effects this has on our economy. Local businesses are the heart of Manhattan and we're here to help; I hope you'll join us!
What's the solution?
If you're an employer, or manager, or team leader, we are asking you to purchase local gift cards for your employees. Even if it is just a $5 gift card to a local establishment, every single dollar helps. Then to keep it moving forward, challenge another company to do the same. The ripple affect can be a bright spot in the middle of this darkness.
Not an employer, manager, or team leader? No problem, we still challenge you! Buy a gift card for a friend or family member and challenge them to do the same.
Over at Rockhill Real Estate Group, my business partners and I have purchased our REALTORS and employees gift cards to the following local establishments:
We are challenging Charlson and Wilson Bonded Abstractors, Duell Construction, and Bank of the Flinthills to accept our challenge, purchase local gift cards for their employees, and challenge 3 other businesses to do the same.
We may not be able to control how this affects the world, but we CAN make a difference in Kansas.
Don't let COVID-19 infect our local economy!
