Hard Day's Work
Throughout the years, I’ve always been blown away by the kindness and generosity of my clients. I’ve felt the opportunity to work with each of my clients was enough of a gift and to this day it remains such a sweet surprise when I receive something as a token of their appreciation.
However, the one that stands out the most still makes me giggle as much today as it did when I received it six years ago!
I was working with an Army Captain while he searched for his first home in Manhattan, KS. If you’ve ever met me in person, you know I’m a bit on the shorter side so I’m ALWAYS in tall shoes. It goes without saying I’m confident walking in heels.
On this particular day, I’d been showing since 9am and we were at the second-to-last house at the end of a long day. I was the definition of grace as I maneuvered the many construction sites in my sky-high wedge heels and was internally celebrating the fact we were almost done for the day. There we were walking back to the car with my client on a smooth, concrete street when out of nowhere something nothing was in my path and BOOM- straight to the ground I fell!
Right in front of my client!
The horror! The embarrassment! The shame!
I was mortified.
To add insult to injury, my gracious client was immediately the perfect gentlemen helping me back to my feet. And right away noticed the blood running down my knees.
While I wanted to disappear, we finished up the last house while I assured the buyer I was fine and simultaneously tried to not drip blood all over the house.
My pride was gone & I swore I’d never live this down.
And I was right.
I waltzed into closing day hoping he forgot about my graceful fall.
No such luck.
Sitting on the closing table was a personalized, jeweled flask with the initials BK on it.
Red covered my face.
I was the Realtor known as Bloody Knees.
The horror! The embarrassment! The shame! And finally, the giggles!
PS-Mark your calendars for June 22nd from 11a-1p to help me celebrate my milestone!
